Today, rather than a lengthy newsletter, I’ve got three quick questions for you.
For the purpose of marketing your music:
- Which social media platforms do you use?
- What strategies are working best for you?
- What hasn’t worked?
Click this link and let me know.
I’ll share the results of this unscientific poll (along with my own commentary) next week.
You probably already know that I’m something close to a Luddite.
I’d rather become a Trappist monk than spend two consecutive hours on TikTok, and that’s not even a joke.
But my grumpiness doesn’t mean there’s no room for nuance.
I think social media is the most effective way to promote music in 2024. Somewhat ironically, my own business is largely built on running Facebook ads for artists. And I know that there are people on this email list who credit TikTok for their ability to make music for a living.
So I’m very interested to hear the good and the bad, and I think it’ll be helpful to get a range of perspectives.
(And, in honesty, I wouldn’t mind copping some good ideas for my own marketing; if you read last week’s email, you know I could use the help.)
Here’s the link again to share how you’re using social media. I’d love to hear your thoughts.
